After getting suspended for throwing soup at head coach Tyron Lue, Cavalier JR Smith said he found the reaction by what he saw on Social Media to be funny.
“Some of them were actually pretty funny,” Smith said.
“I understand that everything I do is going to have a meme or whatever behind it — that’s just part of the day and age we live in,” Smith. “If this was 15 years ago, nobody would have even knew. It’s just part of the game.”
And he’s right, but that doesn’t make what he did all right.
His teammate, Lebron James, didn’t wake to get mixed up in it.
Superstar teammate LeBron James had no comment.
“Ain’t got nothing to do with me,” James said. “Momma told me a long time ago to mind your business.”
On the court Saturday, Smith scored 19 in a 126-117 loss to the Denver Nuggets in Cleveland.
In the loss, James registered his 13th triple-double this season (68th of career) with a team-high 25 points, a game-high 10 rebounds, a game-high 15 assists and a game-high two steals in 42 minutes. He also became the first player in franchise history to record 6,000 rebounds with his eighth board of the night.
“We’re all trying to get better,” said James. “It’s not just the guys at the deadline, it’s all of us, we’re all trying to figure it out,” James said.
