More often than not soccer (or football as it’s known outside of the U.S.) simply writes itself. Name another sport in which a player would drop a team’s championship trophy allowing it to be run over by the team bus? Answer: Soccer!
Sergio Ramos did just that in the wee hours (4am) of the morning hours after his Real Madrid team defeated arch-rival Barcelona 1-0 behind a Cristiano Ronaldo goal to win something called the Copa Del Rey.
Ramos was on the top deck of the bus in the rain celebrating as it closed in on Cibeles fountain, and that’s when…Uh oh! It slipped out of the defender’s hands and the bus’s right front tire enjoyed a late-night snack.
(Soccer players are not known for the hand skills, hence why they play soccer!)
Safety officials came to the rescue to dislodge the trophy which Ramos later said was still intact.
Barcelona and Real Madrid will play again next week in the first round of their Champions League match.
